Columbia Metals has forged an even stronger relationship with the British Artist Blacksmiths Association (BABA) through participation at the organisation’s Bronze and Stainless Workshop on 23 March. At the event, held at Peter Crownshaw’s forge in Worcestershire, William Bradley, Quality and Technical Manager at Columbia Metals, presented insight into the metallurgy of copper alloys and delved deeper into the specific benefits of Coldur-A®, a silicon bronze that is extremely popular in the blacksmithing community.
The event featured a morning session on the forging qualities and characteristics of bronze, presented by blacksmith Andrew Findlay. A similar session on stainless steel, run by Peter Crownshaw, followed Columbia Metals’ expertise.
Columbia Metals last participated in a BABA forging masterclass in 2016 and this latest event underscored the company’s commitment to supporting the UK’s extensive network of skilled artists and blacksmiths. A wide range of copper alloys for metalworking applications is held in stock in round bar and sheet form.
